I have spent most of my career working in administration. In July 1997 I began working for a Chartered Surveyor as he started to expand from his home office into his own business premises. As his business grew he joined forces with a group of Surveyors and I became their Office Manager/Company Administrator, looking after 40+ surveyors, contracts etc. As the industry was changing I was unfortunately made redundant when they decided they no longer needed a team of administrators. After a short time caring for my terminally ill father and working in a few meaningless temporary positions, I decided to take the leap and become self-employed doing what I love. I find typing property surveys absolutely fascinating and after 20 years, I still enjoy hearing and learning about each property as no property is the same. Maybe this is why I enjoy watching programmes like Homes under the Hammer. I am an extremely conscientious worker and pride myself on my typing speed and accuracy and although I predominantly type surveys, my vast administration experience means I am able to complete most secretarial tasks required. When I am not working, I love spending time with my 2 daughters and my grandchildren (although my eldest and her family now live in Devon). My husband and I enjoy holidaying in Majorca. I am also an avid knitter but don't seem to get much time for this these days.
